Is tung oil safe to use? I see it is a component of Tsel.

Tsel is a compound of selenium, sesame oil and 100% pure raw Chinese tung oil. Pure tung oil comes from pressing the seeds or nuts of the tung tree. Tung trees mainly grow in the mountainous regions of China, away from industrialization and pollution. Climate, soil and air quality are essential for high quality oil. The tung oil used in our Tsel is 100% pure Chinese tung oil (aka Chinawood oil) and is generated by pressing the tung nut, there are no other additives – just Pure tung oil. All pure tung oils are not the same. Pure Chinese tung oil is not to be confused with South American tung oil which is dark and greenish in color. The Chinese tung oil is available in three grades and we use only the best grade available: Grade 1, yellow. Please reference the Material Safety Data Sheet below for more information.

Fire Hazards: Material may be ignited only if preheated to temperatures above the high flash point, for example in a fire. Extinguishing Media: Sand. Use alcohol resistant foam, carbon dioxide, or dry chemical when fighting fires.

Water or foam may cause frothing if liquid is burning but it still may be a useful extinguishing agent if carefully applied to the surface of the fire. Do Not direct a stream of water into the hot burning liquid.

Spent or discarded material is not expected to be a hazardous waste. Soak up spilled material with an inert non-cumbustible material such as sand, clay, etc.

Mixing spent or discarded material with other materials may render the mixture hazardous. Perform a hazardous waste determination on mixtures.

Air oxidation of material can cause it to spontaneously ignite. Spread oil rags to dry without contact with each other, or soak in water and then seal without air in plastic bags before disposal.

Dispose of in a landfill. Disposal is not likely to be regulated. No chemicals subject to land disposal restrictions.
